श्रीमते निगमान्त महादेशिकाय नम:
கருணையை கண்டு அஞ்சும் பாபங்கள்
தயாதேவியே! நீ ஸ்ரீநிவாஸனை விட்டுப்
பிரியாதிருப்பதால் அவன் ‘தயாளு’ (கருணையுடையவன்) என்று பேர் பெறுகின்றான். இப்படி
உன் ஸம்பந்தத்தால் பிறரையும் தயையுடையவராகச் செய்யவல்லள் நீ. ஆனால் ஆராய்ந்து
பார்க்கின் உன்னிடம் கருணையே இல்லையென்று தெரிகிறது. உலகில் கருணையற்ற மனிதனிடம்
மக்கள் அஞ்சுவார்கள். உன்னைச் சரணமடைந்தவரிடம் உள்ள பாபங்கள் வேறு எதற்கும்
அஞ்சாதனவாயிருந்தும் உன்னிடம் மிக அஞ்சி ஓடுகின்றன. இப்படி அவற்றை அஞ்சி ஓடச்
செய்வதால் உன்னிடம் கருணையில்லையென்றே தேறுகின்றது.
பிறரையும் தயையுடையராகச் செய்யும்
தயாதேவிக்குத் தயையில்லை என்பது ஒரு ரஸமான வார்த்தை. கருணையுடையனுக்குத்தான்
கருணையுண்டேயன்றிக் கருணைக்குக் கருணையில்லையென்று காட்டியதும் சுவைத்தற்கு
உரித்து.

Sins Flee in Fear of
Compassion
O Goddess
of Compassion! Since you never leave Lord Srinivasa, He is known as “Dayālu” (the compassionate one).
Through your association, you can make others also compassionate. But when we
think deeply, it seems that you have no compassion at all! In this world,
people fear a person who has no compassion. In the same way, the sins of those
who surrender to you—though they fear nothing else—become greatly afraid of you
and run away. Because you make sins flee in fear, it appears as though you have
no compassion!
This is a
beautiful and subtle idea: the very Goddess who makes others compassionate
seems to have no compassion toward sins. It is said in a delightful way that
compassion belongs to the compassionate person, but compassion itself shows no
compassion toward sins. In truth, this praises your greatness—because all the
sins of those who take refuge in the compassion of Lord Srinivasa are
completely destroyed. (26)
