தயாதேவியே! நான் எண்ணற்ற பாபங்களைச் செய்தவன். குற்றவாளனான என்மீது தொடுக்கப்பட்ட வழக்கு ஒரு நீதி மன்றத்தில் விசாரிக்கப்படுகின்றது.
உலகில் நீதிமன்றத்துக்குத் தலைமைபூண்டு நீதி வழங்கும் நீதிபதி ஸாதாரணமாக ஒருவராகத்தான் இருப்பது வழக்கம். சில ஸமயங்களில் இருவர் சேர்ந்தும் வழக்கை விசாரிப்பதுண்டு. நீதிபதி வழக்கைத் தீர விசாரித்துத் தீர்ப்பளிப்பதில் வல்லவரா யிருப்பார்; ஒருதலையாயிராமல் நடுநிலை வகிப்பார்; நேர்மையுடையராயிருப்பார்; வாதி ப்ரதிவாதிகள் இருவரும் தத்தம் கட்சிகளை அச்சமின்றி எடுத்துரைப்பதற்காக அணுக எளியராயிருப்பார். கிரிமினல் கேஸில் குற்றம் சாட்டுபவனோ அவனுக்காக வரும் வழக்கறிஞனோ குற்றவாளியின் குற்றங்களை எடுத்து விளக்கிச் சட்டங்களை எடுத்துரைத்துக் குற்றவாளியைத் தண்டிக்குமாறு கேட்பான். குற்றவாளிகளுக்காகப் பேசும் வழக்கறிஞன் எதிர்க்கட்சியினர் பேசிய வாதங்களுக்கெல்லாம் விடை கூறிக் குற்றச்சாட்டு தண்டிக்கப் பெறத்தக்கதல்லவென்றும் தண்டிக்க வேண்டிய நிலைமையே ஏற்படவில்லையென்றும் ஆதாரங்களை எடுத்துக்காட்டுவான். நீதிபதி இரு சார்பினரின் வாதங்களையும் கேட்டு நீதிக்கு ஏற்றவாறு தீர்ப்பளிப்பார்.
தயாதேவியே! என் வழக்கை விசாரிக்க ஏற்பட்ட நீதி மன்றத்தில் திருவேங்கடமுடையானே முக்கிய நீதிபதியாகின்றான். பெரிய பிராட்டி அவனுக்கு உதவி நீதிபதியாகின்றாள். எம் பெருமான் சேதநர்களின் கர்மத்துக்கு ஏற்ற பலனையளிப்பவன்; ஒருதலையாயிராமல் அனைவரையும் சமமாகக் கருதுபவன்; மிக நேர்மையாய் நடப்பவன்; முறை தவறாத எவனும் அவனை எளிதில் அணுகலாம். (சிலேடைப் பொருளில் - சிறந்த திரு மந்திரத்தை அநுஸந்திப்பவர்க்கு வசப்பட்டு நிற்குமவன்.) இத்தகைய ஸ்ரீநிவாஸன் - பெரிய பிராட்டி ஆகிய திவ்ய தம்பதிகளை நீதிபதிகளாகக்கொண்ட நீதிமன்றத்தில் நான் குற்றவாளனாக நிறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளேன். என் பாபங்கள் என்மீது குற்றம் சாட்டி என்னைத் தண்டிக்குமாறு வாதம் புரிகின்றன. எம் பெருமானுடைய மற்றைக் குணங்களாகிய ஞானம் - சக்தி - வீர்யம்-தேஜஸ் முதலியன பெருங்கூட்டமாய் அமர்ந்து வழக்கில் வாதங்களை உற்றுக் கேட்டுத் தம் அபிப்பிராயத்தைக் கூறி நீதிபதிகள் தீர்ப்பளிக்கத் துணைபுரியவைகளாய் (ஜூரர்களாய்) நிற்கின்றன.
கருணாதேவியே! நீ என்பால் குளிர்ந்த எண்ணம் கொண்டுள்ளாய். எனக்காக வாதுபுரியும் வழக்கறிஞையாய் வரத் துணிந்தாய்; ஆண்கள் குழுவுக்குப் பெண்கள் வந்து பங்கு கொள்வதில் உள்ள கூச்சத்தையும் எனக்காகக் கைவிட்டு நீதிமன்றத்துக்கு வந்தாய்; அதனால் தன் மானத்தை இழக்காமல் சாதூர்யமாய் நடந்துகொண்டாய். என்பால் உனக்கு உள்ள ஆதரம்தான் அதற்குக் காரணம். வாதிகளான பாபங்கள் எடுத்துப்பேசிய வாதங்களையெல்லாம் உரிய சாஸ்த்ரங்களை (சட்டங்களை) எடுத்துக்காட்டிக் கண்டிக்கின்றாய். என் பாபங்களெல்லாம் நான் செய்த ப்ரபத்தியாலேயே மன்னிக்கப்பட்டு விட்டன என்று ப்ரபத்திசாஸ்த்ரத்தை ஆதாரமாகக் காட்டி எதிர்வாதம் புரிந்து குற்றம் சாட்டுவோரை வெருட்டியடித்து இல்லைசெய்து வழக்கில் வெற்றி காண்கின்றாய். இவ்வாறு நீ என்னைக் காத்தருள்கின்றாய். Compassion, the Advocate in the Court of Justice
O Goddess of Compassion! I have committed countless sins. A case has now been filed against me, the guilty one, and it is being examined in a great court of justice.
In the world, a court is usually presided over by one judge, and sometimes by two together. A judge carefully examines the case, remains impartial, acts with fairness, and is approachable to both sides so they may present their arguments without fear. In a criminal case, the prosecutor points out the crimes of the accused and asks for punishment according to the law. The lawyer defending the accused answers those arguments, shows evidence, and argues that the charges do not deserve punishment. After hearing both sides, the judge gives a proper judgment according to justice.
O Goddess of Compassion! In the court that examines my case, Lord Tiruvengadamudaiyan Himself is the chief judge, and Periya Piratti sits beside Him as the assisting judge. The Lord gives results according to the karma of beings, treats all equally without partiality, acts with perfect fairness, and allows anyone who approaches rightly to come near Him easily. Before such divine judges, I stand as the accused. My sins themselves act as prosecutors and argue that I deserve punishment. The Lord’s other qualities—such as Jñānam, Sakti, Veeryam, and Tejas—sit there like a great assembly of jurors, listening to the arguments and supporting the judgment.
O Goddess of Compassion! You alone have a cool and loving heart toward me. You came forward as the advocate to defend me. Though entering such a gathering might normally bring hesitation, you cast aside all such concern for my sake and appeared in that court with dignity and skill. Your deep affection for me is the reason for this. You answer every accusation raised by my sins by quoting the proper Shaastrams as evidence. You argue that all my sins have already been forgiven through my Prapatti, and you establish this using the Shaastram of surrender itself. In this way, you silence the accusers, win the case, and protect me. (33)
