திருத்தொடை வர்ணநம்
மன்மதன் அழகுத் தெய்வம். அவனுக்கு ஒரு தோட்டம். அதில் மன்மதன் தன் கையாலே வாழைக் கன்றுகளைப் பயிர் செய்கின்றான். அவற்றில் இரண்டு வாழைமரங்கள் மிகச் செழிப்பாய் வளர்ந்து அழகு பெற்று ஓங்கி, காற்று முதலியவற்றால் அசையாமல் (உலகில் பலனை ஈன்ற வாழைமரங்கள் அழிவதுபோல்) அழியாமல் நிற்கின்றன. இந்த இரண்டு மரங்களைத்தாம் திருவரங்கனுடைய இரண்டு திருத்தொடைகளுக்கு உவமை கூறலாம். இந்தத் தொடைகளைச் சுற்றிப் பீதாம்பரத்தை அணிந்துள்ளான் அரங்கன். பெரிய பிராட்டியும் பூமிதேவியும் நீளைப்பிராட்டியும் அரங்கன் திருவடிகளை வருடிப் பணி செய்யும் போது களைப்பு ஏற்படின் அவன் தொடைகளையே தலையணையாகக் கொண்டு சாய்ந்து களைப்பாறுவார்களாம். இடையில் அவன் அணிந்திருக்கும் மேகலையிலுள்ள பல்வகை இரத்தினங்களின் ஒளி கீழே தொடைகளில் வீசுவதால் இவையும் பல நிறங்களுடன் அழகுபெறுகின்றன. திருவயிற்றுக்குக் கீழ் அழகே உருவுகொண்ட தொடைகள் இரண்டாகப் பிரிந்து செல்வதை நோக்கும்போது அவனுடைய திருமேனியழகு மேலுள்ள அவயவங்களில் வெள்ளமிட்டோடி வந்து திரு வயிற்றின் கீழ் அவ்வழகு வெள்ளம் இரு கூறாகப் பிரிந்துள்ளதோ என்று கருதும்படியுள்ளன. எந்நாளும் வாலிபப் பருவமேயுள்ள திருவரங்கனுடைய இரு தொடைகளிலும் என் புத்தி ஆழ்ந்து அநுபவித்துக்கொண்டு கிடக்கின்றது.

Thighs of Lord Ranganatha
Manmatha, the god of beauty, has
a garden where he himself grows banana plants. Among them, two banana trees
grow very tall, rich, and beautiful. They stand strong without shaking in the
wind and do not wither like ordinary banana trees after giving fruit. These two
trees can be compared to the two sacred thighs of Lord Ranganatha. Around these
thighs, He wears a yellow silk cloth (pitambara). It is said that when Goddess
Lakshmi, Goddess Bhudevi, and Goddess Neela Devi gently massage His holy feet
and feel tired, they rest their heads upon His thighs like on a soft pillow.
The shining gems in the belt He wears around His waist spread their colorful
light on His thighs, making them appear even more beautiful with many shades.
When we see the two thighs branching below His divine stomach, it looks as if
the flood of beauty flowing down from His upper body has divided into two
streams there. My mind remains deeply immersed in enjoying the two
ever-youthful thighs of Lord Ranganatha.
