17- படைப்பும் ப்ரளயமும் – தயாதேவியின் செயல்கள் - Creation and Dissolution as Acts of Compassion

अचिदविशिष्टान्  प्रळये जन्तूनवलोक्य जात निर्वेदा । 

करण कळेबर योगं वितरसि वृषशैल नाथ करुणे त्वम् ॥ 17 ॥

पदच्छेदः

अचित् अविशिष्टान् प्रळये जन्तून् अवलोक्य जात निर्वेदा । 

करण कळेबर योगं वितरसि वृषशैल नाथ करुणे त्वम् ॥ 17 ॥

वृषशैल नाथ करुणे - திருவேங்கடநாதனது கருணையே!

त्वम् - நீ

प्रळये - பிரளய காலத்தில்

अचित् अविशिष्टान् - ஜடப்பொருளைப் போலவே கிடக்கின்ற

जन्तून् - பிராணிகளை

अवलोक्य - பார்த்து

जात निर्वेदा - மனம் வருந்தியவளாய்

करण कळेबर योगं - இந்த்ரியம் சரீரம் இவற்றின் ஸம்பந்தத்தை

वितरसि - தருகின்றாய்.

படைப்பும் ப்ரளயமும் – தயாதேவியின் செயல்கள்

திருமலையப்பனது தயாதேவியே! (கீழே கூறியபடி) பிரளய காலத்தில் ஸகல ப்ராணிகளுக்கும் சரீரம் இல்லை. இந்த்ரியம் இல்லை. அறிவும் மறைந்துவிட்டது. பிராணிகள் ஒரு செயலுக்குந் தகுதியில்லாமல் அசேதனப் பொருள்போலக் கிடக்கின்றன. இந்த நிலையைப் பார்த்து உன் மனமே வருந்தியது. “அவர்களை இந்நிலையிலேயே வைத்திருந்தால் அவர்கள் நல்வாழ்வு பெறுவது எப்படி?” என்று சிந்தை கொண்டாய். அவர்களுக்கு மறுபடியும் சரீரத்தைக் கொடுத்தாய். இந்த்ரியத்தைக் கொடுத்தாய். பின்பு அவர்கள் தெளிவான அறிவையும் பெற்றனர். இவ்வாறு அவர்கள் விவேகத்தோடு நல்வழியில் இறங்கி நடப்பதற்குத் தகுதியைக் கொடுத்தருள்கின்றாய். இவை அனைத்தும் நின் செயலேயாகும். உலகிலும் துஷ்டச் செயல்களைப் புரிந்த குழந்தைகளை உறங்கச் செய்த தாய் அவர்கள் செயலடங்கி உறங்கும்போது அவர்கள்மேல் இரக்கங்கொண்டு பின் அவர்களை விழிக்கச் செய்து வேண்டிய தின்பண்டங்கள் முதலியவைகளைக் கொடுத்து, மறுபடி துஷ்டச் செயல்கள் புரியாதபடி நல்லுரைகளைக் கூறுவதுண்டு. ஆகவே பிரளயமும் கருணையால் விளைவது; படைப்பும் கருணையின் செயல் என்று தேறியது. (17)

 Creation and Dissolution as Acts of Compassion

O Goddess of Compassion of Lord Srinivasa! As said earlier, during Pralaya, all beings have no body, no senses, and no active awareness. They remain inactive, like inert objects, unable to do anything. Seeing this state, your heart is filled with concern. You think, “If they remain like this, how will they ever attain a good life?” Out of compassion, you give them bodies again, grant them senses, and restore their clarity of understanding. In this way, you enable them to act with discrimination and walk on the right path. All this is your doing. Even in this world, when children who have been doing wrong are put to sleep, the mother later feels compassion for them. She wakes them up, gives them what they need, and gently advises them so they do not repeat their mistakes. In the same way, both Pralaya (dissolution) and creation arise out of compassion—Pralaya gives rest and stops wrongdoing, and creation gives a fresh chance to live rightly. (17)
