அஞ்ஞான
இருளை நீக்கி, உலகை வழிநடத்தும் கருணை தீபம்
ஸ்ரீநிவாஸனுடைய தயாதேவியே! உலகில் இருளில் வழி தடுமாறாது இருப்பதற்காக எண்ணெய் வார்த்துத் திரியிட்டு விளக்கை ஏற்றி வைப்பர். அவ்வொளியால் மக்கள் தவறான வழியிற் சென்று தடுமாறாமல் நேர்வழியிற் செல்லலாகும். நீ உலகுக்கெல்லாம் தாயாயுள்ளாய். எல்லா மக்களும் உன் குழந்தைகள். அவர்கள்பால் நீ கொண்டுள்ள அன்புதான் நீ கொடுக்கும் விளக்குக்கு எண்ணெயாகும். அவர்களுக்கு ஸமயத்தில் தலையெடுக்கும் நற்குணமே திரியாகும். நீ வெளியிடும் வேதங்கள் முதலிய சாஸ்த்ரங்களே அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கும் சாச்வதமான விளக்காகும். அவர்களின் அஞ்ஞானமே விளக்கால் ஒழியும் இருளாகும். மக்களுக்கு நற்குணம் வாய்க்கும் ஸமயம் பார்த்து, மிக்க அன்புடன் வெளியிடும் சாஸ்த்ரங்களின் கருத்தை அவர்கள் உணர்ந்து தங்கள் அஞ்ஞானம் ஒழிந்து நல்ல தெளிவு பெற்றுத் தவறான செயல்களை விலக்கி நேரிய வழியில் நடந்து நல்வாழ்வு பெறச் செய்கின்றாய். (படைக்கப்பட்ட மக்களுக்குச் சாஸ்த்ரமாகிற விளக்கைக் கொடுப்பதுவும் கருணையின் செயலே என்று தேறும்.) (18)

that Removes Ignorance & guides the world
O Goddess of Compassion of Lord Srinivasa! In this world, people light a lamp with oil and a wick so they do not lose their way in the dark. With that light, they avoid wrong paths and walk on the right path. In the same way, you are the mother of the whole world, and all people are your children. The love you have for them is like the oil for the lamp. The good qualities that arise in them at the right time are like the wick. The Vedas and Shastras that you reveal are the steady lamp you give them. Their ignorance is the darkness that this lamp removes. By choosing the right time when good qualities arise in people, and by your great love, you help them understand the teachings of the Shastras. This removes their ignorance, gives them clear understanding, keeps them away from wrong actions, and guides them on the right path so they may live well. Thus, giving the guiding lamp of Shastras to the created beings is itself an act of your compassion. (18)
