திருமலையில் பிறவியை விரும்பிய மகான்கள்
தயாதேவியே! மஹாவிவேகிகளாய்ப் பரம பக்தர்களாய்க் குலசேகராழ்வார் போன்ற சில பெரியர் உளர். அவர்கள் பிரமன் இந்திரன் முதலியவர்களின் ஐச்வர்யம் முதலிய அனைத்தும் பெயருக்குத் தாம் பெரியவென்று கண்டனர். உண்மையை அவர்கள் ஆராய்ந்து அச்செல்வங்கள் அனைத்தும் அவ்வடிவு கொண்ட துன்பமே என்று அறிந்தனர். பிரமன் வேதத்தைப் பறிகொடுத்துத் தவித்தல் - இந்திரன் அசுரர்களிடம் அல்லல்படல் முதலியவற்றை எண்ணிப் பார்க்கும்போது அச்செல்வங்களும் துன்பமாகவே முடிகின்றன. ஆதலின் அந்த மஹான்களுக்கு அவற்றில் சிறிதும் நாட்டமே உண்டாகவில்லை. அவர்கள் திருவேங்கடமலையில் உள்ள ஒரு காட்டில் குருகு-மீன் முதலிய ஜங்கமப் பொருளாகவாவது ஆறு - மரம் முதலிய தாவரப் பொருளாகவாவது பிறவியைப் பெற ஆசைப்பட்டனர். இப் பிறவி பெறுவதைப் பிரமன் இந்திரன் முதலியவர்களின் செல்வத்தினும் மேம்பட்டதாக உணர்ந்தனர். இதன் காரணம் என்ன? திருமலையில் ஏதாவது ஒரு பொருளாகப் பிறந்தால் ஸ்ரீநிவாஸனது மிகுந்த அன்பு கலந்த கடாக்ஷங்கள் எப்பொழுதாயினும் கணப்பொழுதேனும் தங்கள்மேல் விழப்பெறலாமல்லவோ? அந்தக் கடாக்ஷங்களில் நீயும் கூடுவதால் அவை மிகச் சிறக்குமல்லவோ! நீ கலந்த கடாக்ஷங்களைப் பெற்றால் திருவேங்கடநாதன் அன்போடு ஏற்றுக்கொண்டதாகுமன்றோ! இந்தக் கிருபாகடாக்ஷத்தைப் பெறக் கருதியே அவர்கள் திருமலையின் காட்டில் பிறவியை விரும்பினார்கள். Mahans Who Desired Birth in
Tirumala
O Goddess of Compassion! There are great Mahans such as
Kulasekara Azhwar who possess deep wisdom and supreme devotion. They understood
that the wealth and power of Brahma, Indra, and others are great only in name.
When they examined the truth carefully, they realized that all such riches
ultimately end in sorrow. Brahma once suffered after losing the Vedas, and
Indra often faced distress at the hands of the Asuras. Reflecting on such
examples, these great mahans understood that even heavenly wealth finally brings
suffering. Therefore, they had no desire at all for such greatness.
Instead, they longed to be
born in Tiruvengadam hill—even as a moving creature like a bird or fish, or as
an unmoving object such as a river or tree in its forests. They considered such
a birth far greater than the riches and authority of Brahma or Indra. Why did
they think so? Because if one is born in Tirumala in any form whatsoever, there
is always the chance that the loving and compassionate glance of Lord Srinivasa
may fall upon them, even for a single moment. And when your compassion joins
that divine glance, its greatness increases even more. Receiving such a
gracious glance mixed with your compassion means that Tiruvengadanatha Himself
has lovingly accepted them. It was for the sake of receiving this divine
Krupa-kadaksham that those great mahans desired birth in the forests of
Tirumala. (42)
