திருமலை
அருவிகளை விட உயர்ந்த தயா வெள்ளம்
தயாதேவியே! பெரியபிராட்டியைக் கணமும் பிரியாது தன் திருமார்பில் தரிக்கின்றான் ஸ்ரீநிவாஸன். ஆயினும் அவனுக்குச் சிறப்பு உன்னாலேயே வருகின்றது. உன் வெள்ளங்களோடு திருமலையில் பெருகும் நீரருவிக் கூட்டங்களை ஒப்பிட்டுப் பேசுகின்றனர் பெரியோர். திருமலையில் உள்ள அருவிகள் அங்குள்ள கழிவுப் பொருள்களையெல்லாம் தள்ளிக் கொண்டு இருகரைகளையும் உடைத்துக் கொண்டு மிக்க வேகத்துடன் பெருகுகின்றன; நீராடுவாரின் பாபங்களை ஒழிக்கவல்லன; கோடையிலும் இடையறாது பெருகுமியல்பின; பள்ளம்-மேடு என்ற வேறுபாடின்றி எங்கும் பாய்வன; மிகப் பெரிய வெள்ளமாய் ஓடுவன. தயாதேவியாகிய உன் வெள்ளங்களும் அவ்வாறே கலியின் குழப்பத்தால் சேதநர்களிடம் மேன்மேலும் வளர்கின்ற புண்ணியம் பாபம் என்னும் இரு வகைக் கர்மங்களையும் விரைவில் அழிக்கவல்லன; எல்லோரிடத்தும் எப்பொழுதும் தடையின்றிப் பெருகுவன; உயர்ந்தவன் தாழ்ந்தவன் என்ற வேற்றுமை பாராமல் எல்லாச் சேதநர்களிடமும் சமமாய்ப் பெருகும் தன்மையன; மிகப் பெரியன. இத்துணைத் தன்மைகளால் உன் வெள்ளங்களை உவமையாய் வைத்து அவற்றை போன்றவை திருமலையருவிகள் என்று அறிஞர் பேசுகின்றனர். ‘உன் வெள்ளங்கள் மலையருவிகள் போன்றவை’ என்று உலகமுறையில் உவமை கூறாமல் ‘மலையருவிகள் உன் வெள்ளங்கள் போன்றவை’ என அறிஞர் கூறுவதால் உண்மையில் திருமலையருவி வெள்ளத்தினும் உன் வெள்ளத்திற்குச் சிறப்பு நன்கு புலனாகின்றது. The Flood of Daya Surpasses
the Waterfalls of Tirumala
O Daya Devi!
Sri Srinivasa bears Periya
Piratti upon His divine chest without being separated from Her even for a
moment. Yet, His special greatness shines forth through You.
Great Acharyas compare Your
floods of compassion to the mighty waterfalls that flow through Tirumala.
The waterfalls of Tirumala
possess many remarkable qualities. They sweep away all impurities in their
path, break through their banks, and rush forward with great force. They are
believed to remove the sins of those who bathe in them. They continue to flow
even during the summer season without interruption. They do not discriminate
between high and low ground but spread everywhere alike. They flow as vast and
powerful torrents.
In the same way, Your floods
of compassion possess these qualities in an even greater measure.

They swiftly destroy both Punya and Papa karmas
that continue to accumulate in Jeevathmas due to the confusions of Kali Yuga.

They flow continuously toward all beings without
obstruction.
·
They make no distinction between the high and
the low, the learned and the ignorant, but reach all Jeevathmas equally.
·
They are immense, boundless, and powerful.
Because of these shared
qualities, wise men speak of the waterfalls of Tirumala by comparing them to
Your floods of compassion.
Yet, they do not say, “Your
floods are like the waterfalls of Tirumala.”
Instead, they say, “The
waterfalls of Tirumala are like Your floods.”
This manner of comparison
reveals an important truth. The standard of excellence is not the waterfalls;
it is Your compassion. The waterfalls gain their glory by being compared to
You. Thus, Your flood of mercy is recognized as far greater and more glorious
than even the majestic torrents of Tirumala. (69)
Key Insight
The verse reverses the usual
comparison. Rather than saying “Daya is like the waterfalls of Tirumala,” it
says “the waterfalls of Tirumala are like Daya.” This highlights that Daya is
the original greatness, while the waterfalls are only reflections of that
greatness. (69)
